About Me
For 40+ years I've been solving the same problem: how do you turn black boxes into tools that empower people?
**What I'm Building Now**
I run the **Semantic Infrastructure Lab (SIL)** — a research lab building foundational infrastructure for AI systems. Think "Linux for knowledge work."
**Shipping code, not slides:** - **Reveal** (v0.19.0) — Code structure explorer, 10-150x token reduction - **Morphogen** (v0.11.0) — Multi-domain computation platform, 39 domains, 606 operators - **TIA** — AI development environment, 200+ commands, 8,400+ files indexed
**The Pattern**
At 13, I published "Colorful Sprites" in Compute's Gazette — my first technical article making invisible techniques visible on the Commodore 64. That pattern stuck.
At Microsoft (1997-2010), I spent 13 years across distributed systems and security: designing wrapper APIs for PNRP (serverless name resolution that predated Bitcoin), building tools that let researchers inspect malware without running it, and developing testing infrastructure for Office.
In consulting, I founded Tiny Lizard, a BI firm built on "Crushing The Nouns" — replacing static reports with action-driven systems. 50+ blog posts teaching people to transform overwhelming data into decisions.
Now I'm building the semantic layer that makes AI tools compose and verify.
**What I Teach:** - How to think *with* AI, not just prompt it - Building developer tools that actually ship - Progressive disclosure and token-efficient workflows - Making AI systems transparent and inspectable
**What I Don't Do:** - Sell "secrets" or shortcuts - Promise overnight transformation - Pretend AI is magic - Position myself as a guru
I'm not the hero who saves you. I'm a builder who makes you capable.
**Education:** BS & MS in Computer Science, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
One step ahead in semantic infrastructure. Still learning everything else.
